Consuming news is an avoidance strategy.
For 99% of us, we’re not going to influence public policy through what we heard about on FOX, or change our minds because a CNN anchor convinced us. A Lefty isn’t going to hear about Trump’s unprecedented COVID vaccine initiative that saved hundreds of thousands of lives and say “Well since Trump just saved Grandma’s life, I’m voting for him in 2024!”. Likewise a Republican Blue Lives Matters activist isn’t going to hear about Kamala Harris’ strong support for the police force and come to the conclusion that she should lead our country.
At the end of the day we’re consuming news as entertainment. There’s nothing wrong with entertainment, but instead of listening to the same news story in the same boring format, why not lean into the fact that we’re consuming this information for fun and make that an enjoyable experience on par with watching a movie or reading a comic?
At MBS, we’re making entertainment a core piece of our news content.
And at the same time we do everything we can to make sure our news is legitimate and backed up with hard numbers. We’ll pit our data analysis and evidence based journalism against any publication on any day.
We’re also bringing back transparency to news. Instead of using Tweets as evidence to support or oppose the COVID Vaccine for months, we use hard numbers to give you all the details on topics people actually want to learn more about. Like docu-series on Netflix but with new content daily – topics like the Epstein murder or why people are hating on Bill Gates all of a sudden. And we try to make it as entertaining as possible with as much humor as our lawyer will let us, or through production value.
And to address the problem that people only consume news from sources that they already agree with, we make sure that no matter what your beliefs are, we’ll have content that you absolutely disagree with. We hope you read it anyway, tell us why we’re wrong, and come back for more. Maybe even be open to changing your mind by 1%.
Oh and we’ll only give you 1 article/video/podcast a day. Chances are you’re a middle manager or college student, not the President. There is no way you need to be informed about more than 365 topics in a single year. And we want to give you real, researched information. Not some trash headlines about an Elon Musk Tweet on his favorite dog leash color. That takes time to create.
Our long term goal is to lessen everyone’s news consumption to 1 article a day that can potentially inspire action, instead of a mindless endless scroll of things you already know about. That way you can spend more time with friends and family, or on any of your passions – not blankly staring at the internet getting more angry.
